Pumpkins can be mashed and frozen for later use in various recipes which helps in easing cooking time and also to minimizes wastage of the nutritious veggie. Procedure


Things Required:


  • Mashed Pumpkin

  • Measuring cups

  • Ziploc freezer bags

  • Permanent marker


 


Directions:


  • Using measuring cups measure and fill the mashed pumpkin in ziploc freezer bags.

  • Leave a half inch headspace before sealing the bags.

  • Ensure that there is no air left inside the freezer bag.

  • Label the bag with the date of storage and quantity of contents in the freezer bag.

  • Store them in freezer.


 


Mashed and frozen pumpkin may be used in baby foods, soups and breads. According to a research in Georgia, mashed pumpkin, which has been stored  in the freezer for eight to 12 months at 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below remains unaltered in its taste and flavor. So freeze them and enjoy!
