How To Freeze Mashed Carrot

CarrotsThe colorful root vegetable, carrot can be stored for long with its nutrients and medicinal benefits intact by freezing it in the mashed form.This process ensures reduction in wastage and also extends its shelf-life. Mashed and frozen carrots can be used in various culinary preparations and can be eaten as a snack too. Read on to know the proper procedure for preserving them by freezing.



Methods of Freezing Mashed Carrots:

  • Parchment Paper Method:

Things Needed:

  • Mashed Carrots
  • Small scoop
  • Parchment papers
  • Baking sheets
  • Ziploc freezer bags
  • Permanent markersMashed Carrots


  • After the mashed carrot is prepared, allow it to reach room temperature.
  • Line the baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Using measuring scoops and place the mashed carrots on the baking sheets as even portion sized scoops.
  • Place the baking sheets into the freezer and allow the contents to freeze for approximately 2 hours till the mashed carrots reaches a solid state.
  • Transfer the measured mashed carrot servings to a ziploc freezer bag.
  • Write the date and number of servings on the ziploc bags using the permanent marker and freeze them again.
  • These frozen portions can be stored for a minimum of three month and can be used whenever required.


  • Freezer Bag Method:

Things Needed:

  • Mashed Carrots
  • Ziploc freezer bags
  • Measuring cup/scoops
  • Permanent markers


  • After the mashed carrots are prepared, allow them to reach room temperature.
  • Fill the freezer bags with measured quantities of mashed carrots (preferably 2 cups).
  • Flatten then and ensure that there is no air inside it before zip locking.
  • Label them with date and amount of mashed carrot inside.
  • Freeze them until they turn hard.


As a ready-to-eat dish, these frozen mashed carrots could serve as a nutritional and tasty  snack which would be more preferred by your kids. They would be greatly appreciated by all your family members as they show little or no change in taste and flavor.
