How to Cool Cooked Turkey Quickly
How quickly the turkey can be cooled depends on the size of the portion or turkey, you plan to cool, and the size of your refrigerator. Based on the efficiency of your refrigerator you can cool your turkey.
Remove turkey meat from bone with sanitized hands.
Large pieces of meat, rolls, roasts etc can be sliced and cut into smaller pieces to facilitate quick cooling.
Line shallow pans with sliced turkey and place this pan in an ice bath.
Keep in refrigerator.
Steps to Freeze Cooked Turkey
Once the turkey has been deboned, sliced, and cooled, it is ready to be frozen.
Wrap turkey tightly with vapor resistant wraps or heavy-duty aluminum foil. Alternately, pack in freezer bags and seal.
Label the bags and place in freezer.
Turkey frozen along with its gravy would retain moisture for a longer time period.
Thawing Frozen, Cooked Turkey
Thaw turkey in the refrigerator for almost 30 minutes per pound. Turkey can also be thawed in a cold-water bath. Change water frequently in order to prevent freezing. Do not ever thaw cooked turkey at room temperature.
