How to preserve fish, should rather be asked for very type of fish because preserving fish will depend on the type  of fish.


Some of the most common and well-known ways to preserve fish  include:



1. Freezing


This is one of the most highly recommended methods that you will find yourself in common use, even with your fish vendor. If you are looking for ways to preserve fish, then freezing is the most preferred method. One of the best ways to put the fish in ice is to remove the gut, clean them thoroughly and put them in the ice and the bag into the deep freezer. There you will find the fish ready to be cooked within a year.


2. Canning Fish


Being a low acid food, fish can be easily processed via canning  and can be processed at a higher temperatures of 240°F,  and could be processed for consumption with a number of variations like addition of processed and ready to use fish with tomato sauce, lemon flavored, herbs and much more. Some of the commonly available canned fish will include the sardines, salmon, mackerel, trout, steel head, and others.


3. Pickling


Pickling fish is not of common practice in many parts of the world, but is a delicacy in some parts of the world, for certain kinds of fish, and is especially done using the flesh of some of the high quality fish like the salmon. Pickled fish could be stored in the refrigerator at normal temperature and leaves no odor in your refrigerator that you will find yourself preserving fish for three to four weeks with no hassles.


4. Smoking and drying


These two are the traditional methods, of which drying is becoming a wide spread method for preserving fish and brining them in salt before smoking and drying them is a very good option.


 


Go out and buy fish in huge quantities now that you have learnt how to preserve them.
