It is very important for us to know how to prevent your cake from crackin, as it may save you from facing disastrous moments in the kitchen.
I made my first cake on my daughter's birthday! Man it was a disaster! Though it tasted too good, I could not prevent the cake from getting cracked. As such, I learnt how to prevent cake from cracking and am now sharing it with you.
Tip on preventing Cake from cracking:
After all that hard work of mixing and baking a cake, one would want to see a perfect cake. Here is what you can do to get that result:
Carefully measure your baking powder and/or baking soda. Adding too much will cause cracks.
Do not over mix the batter. This can cause air to get trapped in the batter.
Preheat the oven first before starting to bake, and place cake on center rack.
Maintain the temperature, if too hot, the cake will rise too fast and cause the top to crack.
I am sure people who bake cake for the first time will keep opening the oven and check on it, but this only leads to cracking. So just walk away from the oven, till it’s done.
Use a spatula or knife to see if the cake is baked completely.
- Never over handle the cake, until it cools.
