Meatball Stew

Ingredients
  Ground beef 1 Pound
  Egg 1
  Dry bread crumbs 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Milk 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Instant minced onion 2 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Canned stewed tomatoes 16 Ounce
  Frozen vegetables 24 Ounce (For Stew)
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
Directions

Mix ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, milk, onion, 1 teaspoon salt and the pepper.
Shape mixture by 1/4 cupfuls into balls (do not pack); brown in Dutch oven over medium high heat.
Drain off fat.
Stir in stewed tomatoes, frozen vegetables and 2 teaspoons salt; heat to boiling.
Reduce heat.
Cover tightly; simmer on top of range or in 325° oven until vegetables are tender, 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.
Serve with Garlic French Bread Sticks (page 68) and, for dessert, Spice Cake with Browned Butter Icing
