Chicken Stew With Dumplings

Ingredients
  Fowl 5 Pound, cut up
  Celery 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), diced
  Bay leaf 1
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Minced parsley 2 Tablespoon
  Hot water 1 1⁄2 Quart
  Whole cloves 3
  Sliced onion 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Dumplings 1
Directions

Combine all ingredients but Dumplings; simmer, covered, 3-4 hrs., or until tender.
Thicken chicken stock if desired.
Drop Dumplings on top of boiling stew, cover tightly, and cook.
