Apple Beef Stew With Vegetables

Ingredients
  Beef chuck 3 Pound
  All purpose flour 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening/Margarine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Bay leaf 1
  Tomato sauce 8 Ounce (1 Can)
  Chili powder 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Canned applesauce 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Diced celery 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  White potatoes 6 Medium, peeled and halved (Raw)
  Onions 6 Medium
  Carrots 6 Medium
Directions

Toss beef cubes a few at a time in seasoned flour.
Brown on all sides in hot shortening in large kettle or Dutch oven.
Add next 5 ingredients.
Bring to boil, cover and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
Add vegetables and simmer 1 hour longer, or until tender.
