Classic Meatball Stew

Ingredients
  Ground beef 1 Pound
  Egg 1 , slightly beaten
  Small bread cubes 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Finely chopped onion 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs), finely chopped
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Shortening 2 Tablespoon
  Condensed beef broth 10 1⁄2 Ounce (1 Can)
  Condensed tomato soup 10 3⁄4 Ounce (1 Can)
  Thyme leaves 1⁄8 Teaspoon, crushed
  Canned small whole white potatoes 16 Ounce, drained and cut up (1 Can)
  Canned sliced carrots 16 Ounce, drained (1 Can)
Directions

Mix thoroughly beef, egg, bread cubes, 1/4 cup onion, and salt.
Shape firmly into 36 meatballs.
In large saucepan, brown meatballs and cook remaining onion in shortening; pour off fat.
Add remaining ingredients.
Heat; stir occasionally.
