|Beef "cubed" steaks||4|
|All purpose flour||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Coat steaks with flour.
Melt shortening in skillet; cook steaks over medium-high heat until brown and crispy, about 4 minutes on each side.
Season steaks with salt and pepper.
If desired, top each steak with butter or margarine.
