Sunny Citrus Steak
|Beef chuck steak||4 Pound (1 Piece)|
|Shortening||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Onions||2 Large, sliced|
|Light brown sugar||2 Teaspoon|
|Grapefruit juice||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Grapefruit||1 Large, sectioned|
|Orange||1 Large, sectioned|
Preheat oven to 350°F.
If necessary, trim excess fat from steak.
In extra-large skillet with ovenproof handle, in melted shortening, brown steak on both sides.
Add onions, salt, sugar, pepper and juice; cover; bake hours or until meat is fork-tender.
Add fruits to meat during last 5 minutes of cooking; heat through.
Remove meat, fruits and onions to warm platter.
Thicken juices with mixture of 3 tablespoons flour and 1/2 cup water.
