Chayote

Chayote or sayote, also popular as chocho or tayota or chow chow or mirliton or christophine or the pear is a type of gourd. A fleshy fruit with green wrinkled skin, the Chayote is eaten either raw or cooked. With a characteristic taste, the chayote transforms into an irresistible salad when seasoned with salt, pepper and butter. Incredibly tasty vegetable and fruit recipes can be made in combination with the chayote. Highly delectable side courses can be made with boiled, mashed, baked, fried or stuffed Chayote.
