Spices are the flavoring agent in a food, prepared by the combination of dried seeds, fruits, roots, barks, leaves, or vegetative substances. They are also used as a preservative by killing or preventing the growth of harmful bacteria in a food. Spices are classified according to their variants such as fennel, mustard comes under dried fruits or seeds, saffron is an example of stamens. Cinnamon, pepper, asa foetida are some common spices example.
