|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Onion||1 Small, minced|
|Garlic||1 Clove (5 gm), minced|
|Ground turmeric||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cumin seed||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
|Uncooked rice||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Saffron||1⁄4 Teaspoon (Few Shreds)|
In the butter gently cook onion and garlic until they are transparent but not brown.
Add cloves, turmeric, and cuminseed, and cook for 2 or 3 minutes.
Then add rice, salt, the saffron which has been softened in a bit of warm water, and boiling water to cover rice by 1 inch.
Proceed with favorite method for boiling or steaming rice until done.
Makes 4 servings.
