Italian Anise Toast
|White flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)|
|Anise seed||1 Teaspoon|
Heat oven to 375° (quick moderate).
Grease and flour a 9x5x3 loaf pan.
Beat eggs and sugar thoroughly.
Add anise seed.
Measure flour by dripping method or by sifting.
Mix in flour.
Bake about 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center lof loaf comes out clean.
Pan will be only half full.
Remove from pan and cut loaf into sixteen 1/2" thick slices.
Place slices on greased baking sheet; bake 5 minutes or until bottoms of slices are browned.
Turn and bake 5 minutes more or until sides are browned.
