Spanish potato is used extensively in Spain to make several dishes like omelet, tortillas, and salads. Among several potato based dishes, a few popular ones include patatas bravas, roasted Spanish potatoes, potato tortilla, and potato salad.   

 

Popular Spanish Potato Recipes

A few popular recipes of Spanish potato are discussed hereunder;

 

  • Patatas Bravas- this is a spicy and crispy Spanish dish which suggests combining together fried and seasoned (pepper and salt used as seasonings) potatoes, with a sauce prepared by sautéing garlic and onions in olive oil, seasoning it with  pepper and salt, and adding tobacco sauce, thyme, paprika, mayonnaise, and tomato ketchup to it. The dish is garnished with parsley before serving.

 

  • Roasted Spanish potatoes- potatoes are coated with oil and a mix of salt and various spices such as pepper, chili etc, placed in an oven tray, and baked for around an hour until crisp and golden brown.

 

  • Fried sausages with potatoes- One of the Spanish recipes suggests frying Spanish sausage until brown, adding diced onions and potatoes to it, and frying until potatoes get soft.

 

  • Tortilla de Patatas- this is a Spanish potato based omelet, which is prepared by combining together whisked eggs and fried mix of potatoes, garlic and onions; with the entire material spread in a skillet containing some oil, and cooked like omelet, by inverting it so that both the sides are cooked properly. The omelet is sliced in the form of wedges, and seasoned with salt before serving. Lemon juice can be sprinkled on the top if desired.

 

  • Potato salad- this is a popular Spanish side dish comprising potatoes that are boiled, sliced, and arranged in a big bowl; to which tomatoes, thyme, parsley, onion, and mayonnaise mixture are added. The mayonnaise mixture is made by combining together honey, vinegar, saffron, mayonnaise, pepper, garlic, and salt.

 

  • Potato tortilla- this dish is prepared by baking potato in a toaster oven, combining it with garlic, onion, cornstarch, and cooking the entire mix in a non-stick frying pan. This is a delicious and crispy Spanish potato dish which is quite popular all over Spain.
