Spanish Style Chicken

  Frying chicken 1 , cut up
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Monosodium glutamate 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Vegetable shortening 3 Tablespoon
  Chopped onion 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), minced
  Tomato juice 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Chicken broth 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Uncooked long grain rice 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Frozen peas package 10 Ounce, broken (1 Package)
  Chopped pimiento 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)

Season chicken with salt, pepper, and monosodium glutamate.
In skillet, brown chicken in hot vegetable shortening.
Add onion and garlic; cook until onion is tender but not brown.
Add tomato juice and 1/2 cup of the chicken broth; reduce heat.
Cover; simmer 20 minutes.
Add rice and remaining broth; stir so broth covers rice.
Simmer, covered, 20 minutes.
Add peas and pimiento.
Simmer 5 minutes more or until peas are tender; stir once or twice.
