Frittata Casserole

Frittata Casserole is an easy to make egg based casserole, which is enriched with assorted vegetables, meat, and cheese. The meat and vegetables used in the casserole may vary from one recipe to the other. It is an oven cooked dish which is prepared by whisking cheese, Chile peppers, corn, parsley, meat, etc into eggs. The casserole can be cut into cubes once cooked and serves as a perfect treat for parties, picnics, and other gatherings. Though this casserole is a standalone dish, it is served with salsa at times.

Commonly Used Ingredients and Preparation Overview of Frittata Casseroles

There are a number of recipe variations of frittata casserole, each one suggesting the use of varied ingredients while retaining the main ingredient, i.e. eggs. Among several variations, fiesta frittata casserole is an egg and bean based casserole which is prepared with sour cream, cheddar cheese, eggs, green Chile peppers, minced onions, parsley, corn kernels, red peppers, black beans, bacon bits, and salsa as the essential ingredients.

The preparation process suggests whisking together sour cream eggs, cheddar cheese, onions, green Chile peppers, and peppers, and combining it with a mix of corn, red peppers, bacon bits, and black beans. The entire content is now transferred to a greased baking tray and the casserole is baked before serving with fresh salsa.

Frittata Casserole Recipe Variations

A few recipe variations of the casserole are discussed hereunder:

  • Asparagus Frittata Casserole- this casserole refers to layers of salt and milk mix, asparagus, and grated cheese, arranged in this order in a greased baking tray.

  • Buffalo Chicken Frittata Casserole- this casserole is prepared by lining a greased baking tray with mashed potatoes and pouring over a mix of cooked chicken, buffalo sauce, and eggs. The casserole is then baked after topping it with shredded cheese. It is served with sliced avocados placed on the top. The buffalo sauce used in this casserole is a blend of vinegar, butter and hot sauce.

  • Spinach mushroom frittata casserole- a mix of sour cream, salt, pepper, eggs, and spinach is prepared and poured over sautéed mix of onions and mushrooms. The casserole is baked for a few minutes, sprinkled with shredded parmesan cheese, baked for another ten minutes or so, and served hot.
