Caipirinha

myvirginkitchen's picture
In this video I make a Caipirinha - the National Cocktail of Brazil. Ok so this cocktail is very, very tasty -- but also extremely strong! Things get a bit silly too, I get the outfits out -- forget to muddle my drinks and put less and less ice in to the point where the last 2 drinks are practically pure cachaca. I had a sore head after this video, but having just one or two were very nice indeed. Have a go....
Ingredients
  Sugar 2 Teaspoon
  Limes 1⁄2
Ice cubes 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Cachaca 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Directions

MAKING
1. Remove the membrane of the lime from the center and make incision.
2. Place the lime in a glass flesh side down and add in the sugar. Squeeze the lime with a muddler.
3. Add in the ice cubes and pour in the cachaca.
4. Pour the mixture into a cocktail shaker and cover with a lid. Shake well for a few seconds.

SERVING
5. Pour the cocktail in a serving glass, garnish with lime wedge and serve.

TIPS
You can make different variations by adding your favorite fruits.
