Tuna Soup

Tuna Soup refers to a soup made of tuna (salt water fish) and various other ingredients like tomatoes, celery, carrots, corn, peas, green beans, etc. The tuna soup recipes may vary in terms of ingredients used, with the basic ingredient, tuna, remaining the same in all the variations.

 

Tuna Soup Recipe- Ingredients Used and Preparation Overview

The ingredients required to prepare tuna soup consist of tuna, tomatoes, peas, green beans, celery, carrots, corn, garlic, mixed herbs, broccoli, vegetable stock, salt and pepper.

 

Tomatoes and vegetable stock are put in a pot and boiled, to which chopped vegetables, salt, and pepper are added, and the mix is simmered for around fifteen to twenty minutes. Thereafter, tuna is drained, the mixture is simmered for another ten minutes, and then served hot.

 

Tuna Soup Recipe Variations

A few recipe variations of tuna soup are discussed hereunder:

 

  • Thai Tuna Stew- In this recipe, ramen noodles and tuna are the main ingredients. Ramen noodles are added to boiling water, along with celery salt, tobacco, soy sauce, parsley flakes, onion powder, tuna, and chopped vegetables (celery, Chinese cabbage, and green onions). The mix is stirred properly, allowed to boil until the noodles get soft, and served hot.

 

  • Mushrooms and Noodles Based Tuna Stew- onions, mushrooms, and pepper are sautéed in oil for some time, to which tuna, tomato soup, thyme, salt, and milk are added, followed by sour cream in the end. In another pot, noodles are boiled, the water is drained, and the prepared tuna soup is poured over noodles and served.

 

  • Tuna Cheese Soup- This recipe suggests combining cheese soup with water, tuna, and chopped tomatoes, and boiling the mix for a few minutes before serving it hot.

 

  • Spinach Based Tuna Stew- Onions are sautéed in a saucepan, to which chicken broth, tuna, spinach, salt, and pepper are added, and the mix is cooked for some time before serving.

 

  • Broccoli Based Tuna Stew- Onions are sautéed in butter, to which flour is added, followed by adding milk slowly and slowly, and the mix is cooked until it gets thick. Thereafter, tuna, broccoli and various spices are added and the entire mixture is cooked for around fifteen minutes, after which yogurt or sour cream is added, and the tuna soup is served hot (the mix should not be allowed to boil after the addition of yogurt or sour cream).
