Split Pea Soup Jardiniere is a mouth watering appetizer. An easy to prepare split pea recipe wont let you forget its taste forever. So, give it a try and squander its taste!
Ingredients
  Dried split green peas 1 Pound
  Cold water 2 1⁄2 Quart
  Ham bone 1 (With Meat)
  Ham meat 1 Pound (Attached To The Bone)
  Onion 1 Small, studded with 2 cloves
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Dried thyme 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Bay leaf 1
  Leeks 2 , well cleaned and thickly sliced (White Part Plus 1 Inch Green)
  Carrots 2 , scraped and cut into large chunks
  Celery ribs 2 , cut into large chunks
  Parsnip 1 Large, scraped and cut into large chunks
Directions

Pick over and rinse peas; add to water in a large soup pot.
Add ham bone with meat, clove-studded onion, salt, pepper, thyme and bay leaf.
Cover and simmer 2 hours.
Discard clove-studded onion and bay leaf.
Remove ham bone and cut off meat; set aside.
Add vegetables to soup.
Simmer 30 to 45 minutes or until vegetables are tender and peas are reduced to a thick porridge.
Cut reserved meat into chunks and add to soup to heat through.
