Choose-A-Bean Soup Mix

Ingredients
  Garbanzo beans 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Dry navy beans/Lima beans 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Red kidney beans/Pinto beans 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Dry split peas/Whole green peas 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Minced onion 3 Tablespoon, dried
  Wheat berries 2 Tablespoon
  Pearl barley 2 Tablespoon
  Dried celery flakes 2 Tablespoon
  Instant beef bouillon granules 2 Teaspoon
  Dried basil 1⁄2 Teaspoon, crushed
  Bay leaf 1
Directions

In a plastic bag or airtight container combine all ingredients.
Seal tightly and store till needed.
To cook choose a bean soup mix: In a 3 quart saucepan combine 1 recipe choose a bean soup mix and 7 cups water.
Bring to boiling; reduce heat.
Cover; simmer for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat.
Cover; let stand 1 hour. (Soak soup mix in the water overnight in a covered pan.) Do not drain.
Bring beans and liquid to boiling; reduce heat.
Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or till beans are tender.
Remove bay leaf.
Season to taste with salt.
Ladle the soup into soup bowls.
