Port Wine Onion Soup
|Boiling water||1 Milliliter|
|Dry port wine||125 Milliliter|
|Gruyere cheese/Parmesan cheese||250 Milliliter|
Place the butter in an 8-cup (2 L) microwave-safe bowl and melt 2 minutes at HIGH.
Add the onions, stir well.
Heat 5 minutes at HIGH.
Add the flour, mix well.
Add the boiling water, stir until well mixed.
Add salt and pepper.
Microwave 10 minutes at HIGH.
Add the port.
In a soup tureen or large bowl place half the bread strips, cover with the grated cheese and place the remaining strips of bread over the cheese.
Pour the hot soup over it all.
Let stand 1 or 2 minutes.
