Hearty Okra Soup
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Cut okra||1 Pound|
|Cornmeal||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)|
|Bacon drippings||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Canned tomatoes||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Catsup||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Onion||1 Medium, chopped|
|Bell pepper||1 Medium, chopped|
Combine egg and okra in bowl; coat with cornmeal.
Fry in drippings over medium heat until browned.
Add tomatoes, sugar, catsup, onion and bell pepper.
Cover; simmer until vegetables are tender.
Season with salt and pepper; serve at once.
