|Onion||1 Cup (16 tbs), diced|
|Raw potatoes||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), cubed|
|Carrots||1 Cup (16 tbs), sliced|
|Celery||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), diced|
|Cabbage||1 Cup (16 tbs), shredded|
|Tomato sauce||8 Ounce (1 Can)|
|Raw rice||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Bay leaf||1 Small, crushed|
|Sweet basil leaf||1|
|Black pepper||1 Dash|
|Water||1 1⁄2 Quart|
1 In a large kettle, put the hamburger and onion.
2 Brown the meat.
3 Drain the fat.
4 Add in the potatoes, carrots, celery, cabbage, and tomato sauce.
5 Gradually bring to a boil.
6 Sprinkle rice into the mixture.
7 Add in the remaining ingredients.
8 Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
9 Serve hot in soup bowls.
