Split Pea And Ham Soup

What do you do with a left over ham bone? Make split pea soup of course. The rich flavor of ham with the delicate flavor and consistency of split peas make for a comforting bowl of soup.
  Oil 2 Tablespoon
  Onion 1 , chopped
  Garlic 4 Clove (20 gm), chopped
  Carrot 2 , chopped
  Ham bone 1 Pound
  Split pea 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Water 16 Cup (256 tbs)
  Salt 1 Tablespoon
  Pepper 1⁄2 Teaspoon

1. In a large stock pot heat the oil over medium heat.
2. Add the onion, garlic, and carrot. Cook until the onions are translucent.
3. Add the ham bone, split peas, and enough water to cover all the ingredients.
4. Add the salt and pepper.
5. Bring to a boil and lower to a simmer. Cook for 2 hours or until the split peas have almost disapeared.
