Combine the butter and the bacon in a deep saucepan.
Cook, stirring constantly, for about 2 or 3 minutes or until the bacon is limp.
Add the onion and cook 2 minutes longer.
Add the tomatoes and the peas and season with salt and pepper.
Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 3 minutes.
Add the consomme.
Simmer covered, stirring occasionally, until the peas are tender.
Put a slice of toasted breads into soup.
