Split Pea and Ham Soup

Ingredients
  Dried green split peas 1 Pound, sorted, drained, rinsed
  Hot water 6 Cup (96 tbs)
  Diced potato 1 Cup (16 tbs) (1/4 Inch Cubes)
  Thinly sliced carrot 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Chopped low fat boiled ham 2 Ounce (1/2 Cup)
  Low sodium instant chicken bouillon granules 2 Teaspoon
  Dried thyme leaves 1 Teaspoon
  Bay leaf 1
  Whole peppercorns 24
Directions

In 5-quart casserole, combine all ingredients.
Stir.
Cover.
Microwave at High for 10 minutes.
Reduce power to 50% (Medium).
Microwave for 30 minutes.
Stir and re-cover.
Microwave at 50% (Medium) for 30 to 45 minutes longer, or until peas are tender.
Let stand, covered, for 10 to 15 minutes.
Remove bay leaf and peppercorns before serving.
