Ingredients
  Very lean ground beef 1⁄2 Pound
  Chopped onion 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Hot water 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Chopped celery 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Chopped potato 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Bay leaf 1⁄2 , crumbled
  Dried sweet basil 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Chives 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Garlic powder 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Dried thyme 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Fresh jalapeno pepper To Taste, seeded (Optional)
  Tomatoes 3 , chopped
  Carrots 2 , thinly sliced
Directions

1. Brown ground beef and onion in large saucepan. Drain off fat.
2. Add remaining ingredients.
3. Bring to a boil. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes or until vegetables are done.
