Julia S Sausage Vegetable Soup

Ingredients
  Water/Vegetable cooking liquid / stock / broth 8 Cup (128 tbs)
  Sliced polish sausage/Other sausage 1⁄2 Pound, smoked
  Sliced carrots 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Chopped onion 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Garlic 2 Clove (10 gm), minced
  Marjoram 1 Teaspoon
  Thyme 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Freshly ground black pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Bay leaf 1
  Diced potatoes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Thinly sliced cabbage 3 Cup (48 tbs)
  Salt To Taste
Directions

In a large soup kettle or Dutch oven, bring water, sausage, carrots, onion, garlic, marjoram, thyme, pepper, and bay leaf to the boiling point.
Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 30 minutes.
Add potatoes and cabbage and simmer, covered, until vegetables are tender, about 30 minutes.
Taste and correct seasonings.
