My Lentil Soup

Ingredients
  Brown lentils 500 Milliliter (2 Cup)
  Cold water 1 Liter (4 Cup)
  Salt 30 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)
  Pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Butter 125 Milliliter (1/2 Cup)
  Canned tomatoes 29 Ounce (1 Large Can, 625 Gram)
  Onion 1 Large, diced
  Fresh dill/1 tablespoon, 15 milliliter dill seeds 30 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)
  Garlic 2 Clove (10 gm), crushed
  Bay leaves 2
Directions

Place all the ingredients in a saucepan.
Slowly bring to a boil.
Cover and simmer over low heat for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
