Melanie's Garden Tomato Soup

Ingredients
  Olive oil 2 Teaspoon
  Chopped onion 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Chopped fresh basil 1 Tablespoon
  Chopped fresh thyme 1 Teaspoon
  Garlic 2 Clove (10 gm), chopped
  Diced tomato 2 Pound (5 Cups)
  Water 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Tomato paste 1⁄2 Tablespoon
  Sugar 2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Black pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
Directions

Heat olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add onion, basil, thyme, and garlic, cook 4 minutes, stirring frequently. Stir in tomato and the next 5 ingredients (through black pepper). Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes. Place half of soup in a blender. Remove center piece of blender lid (to allow steam to escape), secure blender lid on blender. Place a clean towel over opening of blender lid (to avoid spills). Blend until smooth. Pour into a large bowl. Repeat procedure with the remaining soup.
