Pumpkin Buttermilk Soup

Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter
1 onion, minced
3 tablespoons flour
1 can (16 ounces) pumpkin puree
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
3 cups chicken stock
2 cups buttermilk

Directions

Melt butter in a large heavy saucepan.
Sauté onion, stirring often, until tender.
Whisk in flour until absorbed.
Blend in remaining ingredients except buttermilk and candied ginger.
Bring soup to a boil; reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Stir in butt
