Ad Hoc Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
  Split peas 16 Ounce (1 Package, Green / Yellow)
  Onion 1 Medium (Yellow Ones)
  Carrots 2 Medium
  Celery ribs 4
  Bay leaves 5
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

Chop onions, carrots, and celery.
Place split peas, vegetables, and seasonings to taste in large pot and add two and a half quarts of water.
Cook over low heat for one hour or more
