Microwaved Split Pea Soup

Ingredients
  Dry split peas 1 Pound (2 Cups)
  Diced carrot 1
  Cubed potato 1 Small
  Chopped onion 1 Small
  Lamb shank bones 1
  Cubed smoked ham 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Boiling water 2 Quart
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

In 3 qt glass casserole combine all ingredients.
Microwave (high), covered, 10 minutes.
Reduce to medium (50%) for 20-30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
Rest, covered, 10 minutes.
Test for doneness.
Adjust seasoning.
