Lentil Soup

Ingredients
  Lentils 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Garlic 1 Clove (5 gm), crushed
  Onion 1 Large, chopped
  Carrot 1 , diced
  Celery ribs 2 , sliced
  Tomatoes 2 , chopped
  Dried marjoram 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Beef broth 3 3⁄4 Cup (60 tbs)
  Crushed red pepper 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Bacon 1⁄2 Pound
  Salt To Taste
  Pepper To Taste
Directions

Wash the lentils; place in the slow cooking pot.
Just cover with cold salted water; cover and cook on low overnight.
Drain off any surplus liquid.
Add the garlic, onion, carrot, celery, tomatoes, bacon, marjoram, salt, pepper, red pepper and beef broth.
Cover and cook on low heat.
Add more broth if necessary.
Cook on low 8 to 10 hours.
