Gringo Soup

Ingredients
  Pinto beans 2 Pound (Red Colored, 1 Package)
  Hot water 3 Quart
  Cooked ham 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), cut in 1-inch cubes
  Black pepper To Taste
  White pepper To Taste
  Salt To Taste
  Chili powder 3 Tablespoon
  Cooking sherry 1 Dash
  Onions and stems 6 , finely chopped (Green Colored)
  Bacon bits 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Thoroughly wash beans.
Place beans in water.
Boil at medium, then low-medium heat for about 3 hours.
Add hot water as required until beans boil down to a fairly thick juice.
Add ham when beans are about half-done.
Continue to boil and stir frequently.
When beans are almost done, season with black pepper, white pepper, salt and chili powder.
Stir well and continue to boil until done.
Add sherry.
Cool.
Put in blender and homogenize to a coarse texture.
When ready to serve, reheat and serve piping hot.
Sprinkle onions and bacon on top of soup.
