Mock Bird's Nest Soup

Ingredients
  Long rice 4 Ounce (1Bundle From Chinese Market)
  Dried mushrooms 4 (Fresh Or Canned May Be Used)
  Chicken broth 6 Cup (96 tbs)
  Monosodium glutamate 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Ground pork 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Ground ham 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Water chestnuts 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped
  Egg whites 2 , slightly beaten
  Chopped chinese parsley 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Cut long rice with scissors in 1/4 inch lengths and soak in hot water for 30 minutes.
Soak dried mushrooms in warm water until soft; wash thoroughly and remove stems, finely chop caps.
To the broth add mushrooms, seasonings, meat and water chestnuts, simmer for 30 minutes.
Add drained long rice and simmer 5 mins.more.
Remove from heat and stir in egg whites.
