1. Place peeled banana, sugar, vanilla, and ice cubes into a blender. Add three-quarters of the milk.
2. Blend at high speed, stopping and stirring if the ice cubes get stuck, and adding the remaining milk, if necessary to help it puree. Run until it is very smooth.
3. Serve in tall glass, with a fat straw.
