Boiled Shrimp

Boiled shrimp can be with or without the shell. The shrimp needs to be cooked in simmering water flavored with spices of choice. The water can also be flavored with lime, lemon juice or orange for citrus flavoring. After being cooked, the shrimp is washed in cold water to prevent it from becoming excessively tender. The flavored boiled shrimp is served with its shell, legs, tail and veins removed. The tail is retained when it is served as a cold appetizer.
