Scotch Shortbread

Ingredients
  Butter 1 Pound, softened
  Granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  All purpose flour 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Vanilla 2 Teaspoon
Directions

Combine butter, sugar and about half the flour until mixed.
Add rest of flour and vanilla.
Work with hands until smooth.
Divide into 2 balls.
Chill.
Press each ball in an 8 inch (20 cm) circle on ungreased baking sheet.
Flute edges.
Prick with fork here and there.
Dough may be flattened to cover jelly roll pan, 10 x 15 inches (25 x 38 cm) instead of 2 separate rounds.
Bake in 300°F (150°C) oven for about 45 to 55 minutes or until lightly browned.
Let stand for 5 to 10 minutes.
Cut into wedges or squares while still warm.
