Scotch Shortbread With Butter

Ingredients
  Butter 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), packed in cup, then sifted
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (packed in cup, then sifted)
  All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs), sifted
  All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs) (sifted)
Directions

Cream butter thoroughly.
Blend in sugar gradually.
Add flour gradually, then knead to blend well.
Roll out to 1/4" thick rectangle on lightly floured board.
Prick or press any desired design on top.
Cut into squares 2" x 2".
Place on ungreased baking sheets 1/4" apart.
Bake in moderate oven (350° F.) for 18 to 20 minutes to a delicate golden color.
Cool on cake racks.
Makes about 3 dozen.
