Tips To Identify Rotten Seafood
Rotten seafood may end up messing your meal, especially if you have guests over for a special one. In case you are worried that you may have laid your hands on spoilt stuff, here are some tips to identify rotten seafood:
Lobsters are soft or hard shelled. In case you find soft-shelled lobsters, then these are fresh because they have just undergone the process of shedding off their old shell. Such shells can be easily cracked too. However, pull the lobster tail. If it curls back again, the lobster is still fresh. The tail must also look curled after cooking. However, if the tail doesn’t curl back, then it is probably not fresh and you should avoid eating it.
Mussels and Clams
You can easily fall ill if you consume spoilt mussels and clams. What should concern you here is the fact that this variety of seafood gets easily spoiled. The mussels shells must be checked for any kind of damage or chipping, in which case, the mussels should be discarded immediately. Also, the mussels shells must not be partially or completely opened. Similarly, clams or mussels, whose shells remain closed even after cooking should also be discarded.
Any seafood will have a strong rotten smell, which shall warn you that the seafood is not fit to be eaten.
