Ingredients
  All purpose flour 1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Tablespoon
  Sugar 2 Tablespoon
  Salt 3⁄4 Teaspoon
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Raisins 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Eggs 2 Small, beaten
  Milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (or cream)
Directions

Sift flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large bowl.
Cut in shortening with blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse oatmeal.
Add raisins.
Reserve 1 tablespoon of beaten egg and mix remainder with milk.
Make well in dry ingredients, and add milk mixture.
Stir quickly with fork.
Place dough on lightly floured surface.
Knead gently 8-10 times.
Cut dough in half.
Form into 2 balls.
Pat or gently roll each out to a 1/2-inch-thick round.
Transfer to greased cookie sheet.
Brush with remaining egg.
Score into wedge shaped pieces.
Bake 12-15 minutes at 450°F.
