Feather Light Scones

Ingredients
  Egg 1
  Sugar 3⁄4 Tablespoon (1 Dessertspoon)
  Melted butter 1 Ounce
  Milk 1⁄4 Pint
  Self raising flour 8 Ounce
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Milk 1 Tablespoon (For Glazing)
Directions

Beat egg and sugar together until thick; add melted butter to milk.
Sift together flour and salt into a bowl, make a well in centre.
Stir in egg mixture, then milk mixture; mix to a soft dough.
Turn out on to a floured surface, knead lightly.
Pat or roll to 1/2 in. in thickness, cut out with a floured 2 in. cutter.
Place on a lightly greased scone tray, brush tops with a little cold milk.
Bake in a hot oven, Mark 7, 425°F., 10 to 12 minutes.
