1. Heat the grill.
2. Season scallops with pepper and salt, leave for 30 minutes.
3. Grill the scallops over high heat turning once until browned and just firm for 4 minutes.
4. Serve grilled scallops with tomato sauce.
For tomato sauce – grill tomatoes and make puree. Heat olive oil in a medium sauté pan.
Add garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté on low heat 2 minutes until garlic is softened.
Add pureed tomatoes.
Simmer 3 minutes until sauce is thickened about 15 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper.
Stir in basil.
