Onion-Apple Scallop

Ingredients
  Onions 9 Medium
  Cooking apple 6 Medium
  Bacon slices 12
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Buttered bread crumbs 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Thyme 1 Pinch
  Seasoned salt 1 Tablespoon
  White sauce 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Cracker crumbs 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Diced cheddar cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Paprika To Taste
Directions

Peel onions and apples; slice 1/8 inch thick.
Fry bacon in skillet until crisp; drain.
Alternate layers of onions, apples and bacon in greased baking dish.
Sprinkle each layer with salt.
Add 1 cup water; top with crumbs.
Bake, covered, in 375-degree oven for about 45 minutes.
Remove cover; bake until browned.
