Turkey Sausage is a sausage that is made with turkey meat in the same manner as other sausages. It is considered to be a healthy way to reduce calories and cholesterol and at the same time add a lot flavor to the dish in which it is used. This sausage can be used in different preparations such as stir fried foods, accompanied with fried eggs and bread, used in combination with other healthy foods such as broccoli, and also used in bakes and casseroles.
Link sausages made with turkey resemble other regular sausages; however, they can also be made into patties. It is advisable to consume them within two days of its preparation, but if frozen, they can keep for a few months. Though these sausages are popular in the American cuisine, they are used in other cuisines across the world, including European and Asian.
Turkey Sausage is made with turkey meat and other ingredients that add flavor to the sausage are chopped cilantro, paprika, dried thyme leaves, dried savory, marjoram, minced garlic, black pepper and salt.
Method of Preparation
Turkey Sausage is one of the healthiest breakfast dishes, because it is low on fat, cholesterol and calories. Ground turkey meat is combined with all the seasonings and mixed thoroughly. This meat mixture is rolled into meat balls and flattened to form patties. It can be made into link sausages as well. The patties/sausages are browned (without fat/oil), as the meat already contains a little fat. Traditionally, the browned patties are served with fried eggs and bread.
