Chicken with Sausage & Apple Stuffing
|Bulk pork sausage||1⁄2 Pound|
|Cooking apple||1 Medium, cored and chopped|
|Onion and garlic croutons||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Whole broiler fryer chicken||3 Pound|
|Dark corn syrup||1 Tablespoon|
|Bouquet sauce||1⁄4 Teaspoon|
Crumble sausage into 1-quart casserole.
Microwave at High for 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 minutes, or until sausage is no longer pink, stirring once to break apart.
Mix sausage, apple and croutons.
Fill cavity of chicken with stuffing.
Secure legs together with string.
Place butter in small bowl.
Microwave at High for 45 seconds to 1 minute, or until butter melts.
Blend syrup and bouquet sauce into butter.
Place chicken breast-side up on roasting rack.
Brush with half of butter mixture.
Cover with wax paper.
Microwave at 70% (Medium High) for 15 minutes.
Rotate rack half turn.
Brush with remaining butter mixture.
Microwave at 70% (Medium High) for 13 to 20 minutes, or until legs move freely and juices run clear, rotating rack once.
Let stand, covered, for 10 minutes.
