Coconut Sauce

Coconut sauce is prepared using coconut milk as a base ingredient. Coconut milk is combined with various other flavoring ingredients to make this sauce. This sauce is basically used in curries when chicken based dish is being prepared. One of the most popular dishes is the coconut curry sauce which is added to chicken based dishes.

  • Coconut Mango Sauce – This is a simple coconut cream sauce prepared with the mango flavor.

    Ingredients – Mangoes, coconut milk, heavy cream, and fresh lime juice are used in the preparation of sauce.

    Method of Preparation – Mangoes are added to the blender and pulsed until they turn smooth. The mango puree is combined with heavy cream, coconut milk, and lime juice and boiled over saucepan. The sauce is served warm.

    Nutrition – Each serving of sauce delivers 204 calories with 17.2 grams and 41 mg of cholesterol.

    Serving - The sauce is served over egg noodles or rice or grilled chicken, jasmine rice.

 

  • Coconut Curry Sauce – This recipe was devised by Nina Simond, and it was published in October 2005 issue Real Simple.

    Ingredients - Olive oil, crushed red pepper flakes, lemon zest, minced garlic, curry powder, coconut milk, soy sauce, sugar, salt, and fresh basil leaves.

    Method of Preparation – The sauce preparation begins by combining soy sauce, coconut milk, sugar and kosher salt. The mixture is cooked over medium heat for about half minute and other ingredients are added to it slowly.

 

  • Coconut Peanut Sauce – This is a coconut sauce of Indonesian origin. This sauce is prepared with Sambal Ulek , which is a chili sauce.

    Ingredients – Peanut butter, Sambal Ulek, coconut milk and chicken broth are used in the preparation of sauce.

    Method of Preparation - All the ingredients are combined and cooked together until the sauce thickens.   

    Serving – The sauce is best served over chicken.

 

  • Coconut Pineapple Sauce – This is a type of dessert sauce prepared using brown sugar, and canned pineapple chunks. Unlike other coconut sauce recipes, shredded coconuts are used for making the sauce.

    Ingredients – Butter, brown sugar, shredded coconut and canned pineapple chunks are required to make this sauce.

    Method of Preparation- The sauce preparation begins by cooking brown sugar and butter in a saucepan. Butter is melted and sugar is dissolved in it. The diluted pineapple syrup is added to the sugar syrup and boiled. Coconut and pineapple chunks are added towards the end of cooking.

    Serving - The coconut pineapple sauce is best served over pineapple flavored ice creams.

 

  • Coconut and Lemon Grass Sauce – This Asian sauce can be prepared in different ways using various flavoring agents. One or other form of this sauce is popular in most of the Asian countries.

    Ingredients – Lemon grass, coconut milk, lime juice, red onion, garlic, fresh ginger, red chilies, cooking oil, fresh coriander, soy sauce and turmeric are used in the preparation of sauce.

    Method of Preparation – Onions or shallots are combined in a saucepan along with ginger, garlic and chilies. This mixture is pulsed in a blender and cooked in little oil with coconut milk and other ingredients, until it thickening consistency.

    Serving – The sauce is best served with various fish preparations including the grilled fish. It can be stored in refrigeration for about a week.

 

  • Coconut Milk Sauce – This is a simple coconut sauce which is used as a base for various special rice based dishes.

    Ingredients – Coconut milk, onions, fish sauce, water, fresh basil and oil are used for making the dish.

    Method of Preparation – Onions are fried in little oil and cooked with coconut milk, fish sauce, and water until the mixture thickens. The sauce is flavored with basil before serving.
